Dolly Meymand founded the Art For Kids School (AFKS) in 1980—a multi-media art program created to bring after-school and summer enrichment to public and private schools, and parks and recreation facilities.
More than 35,000 children in Washington state have been taught by Dolly. Over the last five years she’s trained 25 art instructors to expand the program statewide and has mentored four instructors to initiate the AFKS program throughout the western United States. Dolly currently directs the AFKS program in Olympia, where she teaches students daily after school. She also manages and provides her curriculum in the Puyallup, Issaquah, Redmond, Seattle and Edmond areas. More than 700 children per week learn and experience art through the Art For Kids School program.
Dolly invented "Faceted Brilliance" which is a multi-faceted leaded crystal art/architectural product intended for commercial and residential dwellings. She held 9 worldwide patents for 10 years while conducting extensive market research in Seattle, Los Angeles and New York city.
For the last 9 years, Dolly has incorporated a bronze casting program as part of the school’s regular curriculum. Bronze casting is now taught to children ages 5 to 14. In addition she organizes exhibitions for the Olympia students where their work is shown and sold.
Dolly has participated in solo and group shows in galleries in Washington, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico over the past 10 years.
